Where are you from?

I am originally from Tehran, Iran but I’ve been residing in Umeå, Sweden since 2008.

An artist, musician, and actor you´d invite to dinner.

Artist: Marina Abramovic
Musician: Izzy Hale (Halestorm)
Actor: Cate Blanchett

Creativity is …

Creativity is simply the manifestation of self-realization.

Describe your art in three words.

Colorful, bold, simple.

Most difficult thing about creating.

I’m a big procrastinator! I have tones of ideas but I’m a bit lazy to put them into action.

How did the quarantine affect your creative process?

Honestly, I don’t think that quarantine particularly has affected my process. Although a
series of events coinciding with quarantine made me to take my art-practicing more
seriously. Shortly before pandemic, I decided to change my carreer path and become a
high-school physics teacher. So, I enrolled in an intensive one-year program and the
whole 2020 I was super busy with writing essays, preparing lessons and also distant
teaching. After getting my teacher-license, I was already too exhausted to continue and
I felt the urge to take a pause in life and do nothing for a while. Naturally I started to
paint again and it was an “aha” moment for me. I realized how creating things makes
me really happy in life. So, I decided to take this path more seriously.

What music do you listen to when creating?

I don’t usually listen to music when painting. But if I have the mood, I listen to my favorite playlist(s) on Spotify, which are mostly hard rock and grunge music.

How has your art has evolved over the past three years?

The most prominent change, as I can say, is that it’s shifting from a hobby to a potential career and also … now I know how to varnish without ruining my paintings.

Is there something creative you’d like to try?

For the moment I’m quite content with what I’m doing.

When did your art journey start?

Well, I can say that I’ve always been involved in art in some way. I’m coming from a family of musicians, which means that already from childhood I learned to appreciate and practice the art and embrace my artistic side. Before moving to Sweden, I was a full-time synchronized swimmer and also a coach, which to a great deal required my creativity in choreography. I have also received trainings in contemporary dance. But painting started 12 years ago, when I moved to my first apartment in Sweden and I felt the need to decorate my walls with some art and the first thing that came to my mind, was: “Of course I can do some paintings”!

How do you keep creativity flowing?

For me, it comes naturally and usually with no effort. Everything that exists around me, whatever I see, hear, feel and think inspires me.

Most inspiring place you have visited.

For me, every place has something special to be captivated by. But I absolutely loved the gothic architecture in Prague.

Are you a full time artist?

I definitely would like to be a full-time artist and at the moment I’m trying to. I have come to this realization that I need to constantly evolve myself and discover my potentials. I’ve had the experience of being an athlete. I’ve also been involved in science and now I need to explore my artistic side even more. And of course, I enjoy what I’m doing right now.

An artist on Instagram that we need to follow.

I’m myself quite new to Instagram and I guess you are already following all the artists I know. However, I would like to mention the Swedish artist “Ida Persson”. She is not on Instagram but you can find her here: Ida Persson

Talk about how you incorporate physics into your art. Or are they two separate things for you?

That’s an interesting question.

Well, I should say that I’m a very curious person. I constantly question everything and at the same time I like to contemplate on the philosophy behind them. Physics is something that helps me find the simplest and the most comprehensive answers to my questions. On the other hand, art enables me to depict and translate these answers, also my perceptions of the world around me with simple lines, curves and colors.

So shortly, both physics and art make me understand and depict our complex and abstract world in a simple and graspable way. And of course I have some painting ideas related to physics, which are coming soon.

Words you live by.

Strike the bell and bide the danger;
Or wonder, till it drives you mad;
What would have followed if you had … “
