``Quarantine allowed me more time to develop my style and think about what I was trying to say with my work.´´

Where are you from?

Scotland, live in Mexico and moving to Japan next month (July).

An artist, musician, and actor you´d invite to dinner.

I would invite Matisse, Burial and Ricardo Darin to dinner.

Creativity is …

Getting up.

Describe your art in three words.

Colour, line, synthesis.

Have you always wanted to be an artist?

I think painting and writing are the two things that interest me the most. One of them I think I am good at.

How did the quarantine affect your creative process?

Quarantine allowed me more time to develop my style and think about what I was trying to say with my work.

What music do you listen to when creating?

To be honest music can distract me a little bit but if I am out painting murals I like to listen to experimental electronica.

How has your art has evolved over the past three years?

The combination of shape, line and colour has evolved from rigid, aesthetically pleasing geometric patterns to a natural, simplistic search for balance in the unusual.

Is there something creative you’d like to try?

I love movement so dancing would be something I would consider.

What is the largest piece you´ve created so far and how long did it take to finish?

Probably 30m x 5m. (It took) a good few days.

How do you keep creativity flowing?

Staying curious and staying active.

Most inspiring place you have visited?

Valparaiso, Chile.

Favourite art movement?

Fauvism and Ligne Claire.

An artist on Instagram that we need to follow.

You should follow Nelio.

Talk about your preparation for your upcoming exhibition. Where will it be held?

I am just about to have a small exhibition showing my work from the past year. It will be held inside a converted apartment in Mexico City on July 3rd. The exhibition aims to connect the large outdoor pieces with canvas work in an exploration of line and colour (title).

Words you live by.

Bertrand Russel’s 3 passions.

The longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.
